Usually on Christmas Eve we go to my Grandma Senie's house. This year we celebrated a day earlier at the Rec Center and it was just as fun! We have an awesome tradition. My Mom’s maiden name starts with an A, so at my grandparents on Christmas Eve Santa would come, because alphabetically, A is the first on Santa’s delivery list. After a great big Christmas Eve dinner we would watch the Santa tracker on TV, then when Santa was getting close all the kids pile in a bedroom and sing Christmas Songs (it was a bathroom when I was little) soon after the kids are together singing “Santa and his Reindeer” land on the roof and shake his bells and shout “Ho, Ho, Ho.” It is so exciting...since we can hear him...he’s landing on the roof...right?!?! Not to long after, all the kids come out and there are presents everywhere...SERIOUSLY everywhere!! A couple of years Santa has stayed for a minute but most years he just jumps around on the roof with his bells and reindeer, delivers his presents and he is off to the next home! It is SO fun!
This year, since we were at the Rec center the kids were being gathered together when we heard a "HO, HO, HO!" and sure enough it was Santa! He was so great! He sang with the kids and as he pulled a gift out of his bag for each of the kids he talked to them on his knee and we were able to get pictures of every one of the grandkids for grandma. It really was awesome! It made a great start to my very favorite holiday!
